For homeowners

Hire a contractor with a structured payment process that keeps you in control.

SafeBilled helps you compare bids, create a clear project agreement, and keep money protected until milestone work is ready for your approval.

Homeowners reviewing project plans before approving protected project payments.

First steps

You create the project, compare contractor bids, choose your contractor, and turn the accepted bid into a clearly defined project agreement.

Start your project

Choose the contractor, review milestones, and approve payment only when the completed work is ready.

How am I protected?

SafeBilled protects project funds through milestone-based payment requests. Payment releases follow homeowner approval, so a contractor request does not move money by itself.

Homeowner protection fee

Fees are shown before funding. The Homeowner Protection Fee is added when the project is funded. If you cancel, a Homeowner Cancellation Fee may recover processing costs. If work has begun, the contractor may request payment for completed work, materials, or incurred costs, even before the next milestone is reached.

FAQ

Homeowners questions

Why should I use SafeBilled instead of paying a contractor directly?+

Paying a contractor directly often means relying solely on trust. SafeBilled provides: Milestone-based payments Funding verification Documented approvals Change order tracking Payment release controls A clear record of project activity The result is greater transparency, accountability, and confidence for both homeowners and contractors.

How does SafeBilled protect my money?+

SafeBilled uses a milestone-based payment process. Your funds are reserved for the project, but contractors only receive payment after completing approved work. This helps ensure payment follows performance rather than promises.

When is the contractor paid?+

After a contractor completes a milestone, they submit a payment request. You have up to 5 days to review the work and either approve it or raise a concern. SafeBilled uses a Conditional Payment Release process. If you approve the milestone, payment is released to the contractor. If you raise a concern within the review period, payment is paused while the issue is reviewed. If no action is taken during the 5-day review period, the milestone is automatically deemed approved, and the payment is released to the contractor. This process helps ensure contractors are paid for completed work while giving homeowners a reasonable opportunity to verify that the milestone was completed as agreed.

What if I'm not satisfied with the work?+

If you believe a milestone was not completed as agreed, you can raise a concern during the review period. SafeBilled will pause the payment release for that milestone while the parties exchange information and attempt to resolve the issue.

Can I make changes to the project after it starts?+

Yes. If additional work, materials, or scope changes are needed, the contractor can submit a Change Order. You must review and approve the Change Order before the additional work proceeds. Any additional funding required must also be provided before related payments can be released.

Does SafeBilled guarantee the contractor's work?+

No. SafeBilled is not a general contractor and does not guarantee workmanship. SafeBilled provides a structured payment process, contractor verification measures, project documentation tools, and milestone approvals designed to help reduce risk and improve transparency.

How much does SafeBilled cost?+

Homeowners pay a SafeBilled Protection Fee, which varies based on project size. The fee helps support funding verification, payment processing, milestone approvals, project documentation, and the conditional release process that protects both parties during the project.
